Chery Automotive was founded in 1997 and entered the South African market in 2007. Ever since it entered the market, it has introduced some good value-for-money with a good promise of reliability. In March 2023, Chery revealed the Omoda C5 and launched it in April 2023 in South Africa. According to Chery, the letter "O" represents "Oxygen" while the "Moda" means "Modern".

WHAT IS THE CHERY OMODA C5 COMING WITH?
The car offers plenty of flashy, goodie features. Looking at the car from outside, you will realize that it looks very expensive as it has a very good design.
The Exterior: The Omoda comes with 18-inch alloy wheels, Automatic LED headlights, Automatic high-beam, Front fog lights, LED tail lights with directional indicators, Power-folding exterior mirrors, Power Sunroof, Keyless entry & Remote Start, Exterior LED welcoming lights and surround-view camera.
The Interior: Once you jump inside, you will be amazed with the 10.25-inch Digital Instrument Cluster & Touchscreen Infotainment System, that comes with Wireless Apple CarPlay & Android Auto, 6-way power driver's seat, Wireless phone charger, One-touch power windows, Eight-speaker Sony sound system, Front multi-colour ambient lighting, 2 x USB outlets, 1 x USB-C outlet, Heated steering wheel, Heated front seats and Leatherette upholstery.
The vehicle is now available in Five (5) exciting colours.
DRIVING THE OMODA C5
The Engine: Under the bonnet is a 1.5-litre turbopetrol engine which produces 115 kW and 230 Nm of torque. It also utilises a 9-step continuously variable transmission (CTV). Chery claims that the Omoda can go from 0-100km/h in just 9.9 seconds.
Fuel Consumption: Claimed combined cycle fuel consumption for the Chery Omoda 5 is 6.9L/100km. It has a 50L fuel tank capacity.

WHAT IS THE OMODA C5 COMPETING WITH?
The Chery Omoda C5 is competing with the likes of: Volkswagen T-Roc, Opel Mokka, Mazda CX-30 and the Haval Jolion.
The Omoda C5 is sold with a 5-year/150 00 km warranty, a 5-year/70 000 km service plan and a first-owner-only 10-year/1 million km engine warranty.
